Katie’s Project Becomes Official

Myrtle Beach, SC—An exciting, new nonprofit organization is being introduced in Horry and Georgetown counties. Katie’s Project is on its way to becoming a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to assist high school students by providing them with formal wear and accessories so they are able to attend their high school prom.  Today’s prom is becoming an increasingly expensive event that often leads to students not attending due to financial constraints.

Katie’s Project first began as a high school senior research project started by sixteen year-old St. James High School student, Katie Rhoden. When local, prominent businesswoman Kathy Foxworth of LITUS* Properties heard of Katie’s Project, she was so moved by Katie’s remarkable efforts that she not only donated many of her formal dresses herself, she also was determined to keep the project alive by creating a charitable organization which would accept donations year round.

Kathy Foxworth will head the organization as the President/Executive Director, while Katie Rhoden will be the founder/namesake and President of the Student Advisory Board. The organization has unveiled a new logo and a website is currently under construction.
